The Director General of the National Institute of Statistics of Equatorial Guinea (INEGE), Ricardo Nsue NDEMESOGO OBONO, received a mission from the Utica International office in an audience this Monday, led by demographer Orlando Santos Monteiro and accompanied by Dr. Michel Toukam, a specialist in biomarkers.
Utica International is an agency affiliated with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
This visit aims to support INEGE in planning the work for the Second Demographic and Health Survey of Equatorial Guinea (EDSGE-II).
During the meeting held at the temporary headquarters of the autonomous entity, located in Malabo II, both parties focused their discussions on the preparations for the survey. Subsequently, the experts visited the facilities to learn about the operations and expressed their appreciation for the work being carried out by the Equatoguinean statistical institution in its role of providing the country with high-quality data meeting international standards.
According to the program prepared for this visit, the two experts will remain in Equatorial Guinea for 10 days. During this period, the mission will hold meetings and technical sessions coordinated with the National Institute of Statistics of Equatorial Guinea. These meetings will focus on aspects related to biomarkers. In this regard, Dr. Toukam, a specialist in the sector, will be responsible for evaluating and setting up the laboratory, as well as finalizing the list of tests to be conducted in the study. Based on this, the list of medical materials and supplies required for the anthropometry and EDSGE-II tests will be updated.
Upon completion of the mission, a detailed report will be prepared, including conclusions and recommendations aimed at improving certain aspects before the official launch of the second Demographic and Health Survey of Equatorial Guinea 2026.
