Introduction to the AEGE

The Statistical Yearbook of Equatorial Guinea (AEGE) is a document that comprehensively condenses and presents the country’s statistical data. This document is designed with the primary purpose of offering various users a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the sociodemographic, economic, and environmental aspects of Equatorial Guinea. It covers statistics on the environment; demography; employment; income and wages; living conditions; culture and tourism; education; prices; currency and credit; public finance and debt; foreign trade; balance of payments; agriculture; energy; industry; transport and telecommunications, justice, international relations, etc.

For the production of the Statistical Yearbook of Equatorial Guinea, data from primary sources (censuses and surveys) are combined with data from secondary sources obtained from the administrative records of different departments.

Main Functions of the Statistical Yearbook

  1. Allow users quick access to data. The AEGE organizes information in a structured and clear manner, so that any user can find the data they need without wasting much time.
  2. Gather data on various topics in a single document. The AEGE provides information on different sectors, including Population and Demography, Economy, Education, Health, Agriculture, Environment, Public Finance, Transport and Telecommunications, Foreign Trade, and International Relations.
  3. Provide data for various periods. The AEGE is not limited to a single year but includes time series (the last 5 years).
  4. Provide data from multiple sources. The AEGE collects information produced by different departments (INEGE, ministries, international organizations, BEAC, etc.), either through surveys/censuses or administrative records.
  5. Offer detailed and disaggregated information at the regional level. Beyond national data, the AEGE includes disaggregated information for some sectors by region, province, and district.
